So from Venice we got on an early train and headed for Rome!
We got on a high speed train, going about 260km/hr, and within a few hours we arrived at Rome ostiense. The weird / interesting thing about ostiense is that it was a train station built during the 1900’s especially for the arrival of Hitler…. Anyways that’s enough awkwardness…
We had to take the metro from the train station into the center of town. We ended up heading on the metro in the wrong direction… Meaning we ended up about 30 min from the center.. I’ll take the blame for this one. Thankfully when we got to the end of the line we were able to catch another metro back towards the center!
Once we got to the hostel we settled in a room with 8 bunks. We stayed at Alessandro Downtown. 5 minutes away from the main train station by foot. Really easy to find and great if you’re looking for a cheap\clean\nice place to stay. Its got a common room for eating, a fully equipped kitchen for cooking and other facilities. It was my second time staying at this hostel in particular so that just goes to show that its worth it.
Anyways, since Audrey was feeling a bit sick we took it easy that evening… We walked around a bit and got a late lunch and some gelato (of course!).
We sat on the steps of a big church for a bit and just admired all that we could see!!
