Day 4: The plan for the day was to hike from RIomaggiore to Monterosso, and take about 5 hours to do it. Two things prevented us from doing this.
- The path between Riomaggiore and Corniglia was closed due to landslides.
- The idea of walking 5 more hours (which would probably turn into 7 or 8), with our packs made us both want to cry
So this meant we took the train! Our legs were very grateful.
When we arrived in Monterosso we decided to find our Airbnb before plopping down on the beach for the rest of the day. A task more easily said than done. Let me explain. Liguria is anything but flat, which means that the houses aren’t at street level and finding any address requires lots of stairs and climbing! So after a tiring half an hour, and multiple phone calls (and roaming charges), we finally arrived at our Airbnb… A quaint little place with a garden and way too many stairs.
